Australian sister band GERMEIN - Georgia, Ella, & Clara Germein - grew up jamming together on their family farm in Adelaide. Raised on the records of B.B. KING, VAN MORRISON, & CAT STEVENS - their Dad played trumpet in a New Orleans rhythm & blues band, sparking the girls love for loud, feel good music they could dance to.

The sisters spent a majority of their childhood outside exploring their family’s bushland property, looking after animals, as well putting on little concerts for their parents, grandparents, and friends when they’d come visit. The trio enjoyed busking together on the main street of their local town - Georgia on violin, Ella on cello, and Clara on piano or saxophone - while their younger brother handed out bunches of lavender to passers-by, and later on joined them on the trumpet.

Georgia, a gifted songwriter, won her first of seven Young Composers Awards at the age of eleven. In high school, as her calibre of songs increased, she sought after creating a band to tour her songs. She taught herself the guitar, while Ella taught herself the bass, and as nobody played the drums yet – Clara - who was working as a surfing instructor at the time, taught herself the drums.

Inspired by the harmonies of bands like QUEEN and FLEETWOOD MAC, the trio began playing local venues and crafting their own unique brand of indie pop. Taking the lead from strong female artists including HAIM, CHVRCHES, and TEGAN & SARA their energetic and charismatic live show started turning heads.

Germein recorded their debut single ‘Talking’ in their home studio, produced by Georgia Germein. The song was launched on Triple J Home and Hosed, and went on to enjoy airplay on both Triple J and the Hit Network across Australia. “The energy put into this song has paid off - with style, plenty of sass, edgy guitars, & a soaring chorus shows off a range of influences. Their tight harmonies show off how perfectly their voices work together & prove that they have musical finesse to be reckoned with” Line of Best Fit (UK)

‘Talking’ touches on the importance of speaking up in times of conflict, and has been described by UK Press as having “an almost therapeutic value” to it. Georgia describes her songwriting process as “a way of expressing my emotions, by getting the feelings I have out of me and onto paper and into music. It’s always been a very freeing experience.”

Since the release of ‘Talking’, Germein have enjoyed playing to a range of audiences from small clubs to crowds of up to 35,000 people.

Throughout their career they continue to be supporters of charities including Sea Shepherd, Animals Asia, and Australian mental health program Headspace; with Georgia having also written songs for the Red Cross and World Vision Australia, and cared for orphaned kangaroo joeys through Fauna Rescue South Australia. As part of the recent bushfires in Australia, the girls are hosting a Bushfire Benefit Concert at their hometown show on March 1st raising funds for the South Australian Country Fire Service and Fauna Rescue SA.

Hey, I’m Georgia - in the band I play guitar, piano and sing lead vocals. I’m the youngest sister. Away from the microphone I’m probably a bit more shy then Clara and Ella, but once you get to know me you’ll find I’m pretty good at cracking the odd one liners at the end of a joke. I like wearing hats, and my favourite colour is yellow.

Naturally, I’m more drawn to reflect inwardly on my thoughts and feelings – and song-writing has always been a positive way for me to express myself by getting my emotions out of me and onto paper and into music. It has always been a very freeing experience. Ever since I was a kid, I have loved making music and remember recording songs I had written on an old cassette player in my bedroom. Later on, I moved to a little 8 track machine which allowed me to record multiple instruments on loop, which I think sparked my love for composing and arranging music. I started learning the violin when I was 4, then piano, and as I got older, I started teaching myself guitar. My first experience in a professional recording studio was when I was 13 where I won a song-writing competition and the prize was to have the song recorded. I was hooked. Since then we have set up a little studio at home on our farm in Australia, where I spend pretty much every day whenever we’re not on tour.

I also love spending time in nature, especially bush walking or going running. I have 5 pet rescued kangaroos which I raised since they were joeys, because their mothers were hit by cars. Their names are Lulu, Billy, Stuey, Ro, and Joey. I also have a little puppy called Pacha who has fluffy golden fur like a teddy bear, and is great for cuddles (more-so then the kangaroos haha). I love eating healthy plant-based meals, although I can’t resist hot chips on the beach on a summer night. I’m definitely more of a night owl, and am a sucker for sleeping in

Hi, I’m Clara and I play drums, cajon and sing backing vocals in our band, Germein. Being the oldest sister (and the one with the loudest instrument), I am probably the peace keeper and organiser of the group. I work a lot with our tour manager on logistics for our tours and am also in charge of our merchandise, although I am guilty of throwing in a few little freebies for our fans.

We grew up in a very musical family. We often jammed together with our parents, would go busking for pocket money, and put on little shows to anyone who would watch! One of my favourite things to do as a kid and still to this day is going to watch our dad’s New Orleans rhythm and blues band. I played a few different instruments including piano, clarinet, saxophone and guitar but I always found myself watching the drummer at shows and then one year when I was about 15, our brother got a beginner drum kit for Christmas and I was hooked!

I’m a self taught Zildjian artist and love jamming away to my favourite rock, country, pop and of course Germein songs! Outside of music I love sports, being outdoors working on our home farm, playing with our many dogs, and hanging at the beach. My first job out of school was teaching surfing and swimming, and I’ve also worked as a lifeguard!
